Golden Era Wins President's Day Tournament

The 2012 Golden Era 10U squad advanced to the championship the last 4 tournaments they played in last season... and it didn't take too long for the 2013, now 11U team, to pick right back up where they left off.

Over President's Day weekend the guys took the field for there first game action and came right out of the gates running on all cylinders, picking up a 9-2 victory over Modesto. The game was highlighted by 5 Golden Era pitchers holding Modesto to only 2 hits and 0 walks, Aidan Pearce, Ian Pascual, Hunter Mott, Rocky Sizemore and Matthew Miles.

When single elimination play rolled around Golden Era was matched up against the Dublin Dawgs. The Dawgs jumped ahead with 2 unearned runs in the 1st inning, but it was all Golden Era from there. Once again the pitching was spectatular with Pearce, Pascual, Mott and Sizemore again leading the way.

The bats were on fire as well as Golden Era put up 8 runs throughout the game. Ryan Sasaki, Zion Michael, and Hunter Mott all picked up 2 hits a piece. Another big hit came from the best at-bat of the day when Owen Wilson came to the plate with 2 outs and the bases loaded.

Wilson fell behind in the count 0-2, then worked the count full, fouled off a couple more pitches before lining a single to right field to plate 2 runs. Golden Era would score 3 more runs to put the game away for good.

The win advanced the Elite the championship game.

The Championship Game was never really in question as the G.E. Elite scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning and put another 10 runs on the board in the 2nd en-route to cruising to a 14-0 victory over the Pleasant Hill Hawks.

At the plate several G.E. hitters we're on fire, lead by Ian Pascual's triple, double and 5 RBI's. Ryan Mooar, Nick Momaney, Ryan Sasaki, Hunter Mott & Zion Michael all picked up hits and RBI's as well.

And if winning the championship 14-0 wasn't enough, Owen Wilson and Ryan Mooar combined to throw a no-hitter in the victory as well. Not a bad way to start the season...
