JAKE ROGERS WALK-OFF HIT ADVANCES 11U TEAM!

In the season to date the Golden Era 11U team has won championships, won some games big, had great hitting and pitching performances... but there was one thing still eluding them... the come from behind win in the last inning.

Until Jake Rogers came up with a game winning hit on Sunday that is.

Here's how it went, bottom of the last inning, Golden Era 11's down 6-5 to Perk's Titans. 2 outs nobody on base and a 0-2 count on Brandon Hoover. Not looking good.

Hoover fouled a couple off to stay alive then blasted a tripe to deep left-field. The next pitch went to the back-stop and just like that the game was tied.

The comeback was not yet complete though, Marco Ferrara ended up working a walk and Nathan Hovey was beamed on the first pitch in the back.

With runners on first and second base now, Jake Rogers came to the plate. Rogers lined a hit into center-field scoring Ferrara. And after being down their last strike with nobody on base down a run, the Golden Era 11's had make their first come from behind walk-off win of the season!

MOOAR, PEARCE, MOTT, UGOT, WEBB & MICHAEL LEAD 12U TO 5-0 WEEKEND ON THE MOUND, ONLY ALLOWING 5 RUNS IN 5 GAMES

Hunter, Aidan, Ryan, Jordan & Josh (Spring 2014)

The Golden Era 12U team has had tremendous pitching all season, and in the weekend's 'Spring Bash' tournament it was no different. Ryan Mooar, Aidan Pearce, Hunter Mott, Josh Ugot & Jordan Webb all picked up wins on the mound, with Zion Michael closing out 2 of the games picking up the saves.

When it was all said and done the 12U squad had went 5-0 over the weekend and advanced to their 6 Championship in 7 tournaments played.

Ryan Mooar got the weekend started on the mound, going against 925 Baseball. Mooar surrendered a double in the 1st inning, and only allowed one hit the rest of the way. Golden Era picked up the win 12-0 over 925 Baseball.

Aidan Pearce picked up right where Mooar left off. Pearce shut down Lafayette Rock, taking a no-hitter into the 4th inning as the team went on for the win.

Not to be outdone, Hunter Mott got the start on the mound in game 3 of the tournament against the Mon-Stars of Modesto. Mott took a no-hitter into the 4th inning as well as Golden Era went on for the win.

The fourth game of the tournament saw Golden Era going against Triple Crown Baseball, with big Josh Ugot on the mound. Ugot dominated Triple Crown Baseball as the team cruised to another win, advancing them to the championship game.

Jordan Webb got the start in the Championship Game and completed off the weekend of great pitching, shutting down the Mon-Stars in an 8-0 win in the Championship.

Of course any good pitching staff needs a great catcher behind the plate, and catching in 3 of the 5 games over the weekend, anchoring down the pitching staff, was Ryan Sasaki.

HOVEY MAKES A CATCH FOR THE AGES

One of the best things about baseball is you never known when one of those great moments is going to happen.

You never know when a hit, pitch, steal or play is going to take place to make the ball-park stop and applaud.

11U player Nathan Hovey had one of those plays Sunday morning when while playing left-field he broke back on a deep fly ball that took him to the fence.

Hovey leaped, extended out and while in the air, reached over the wall and robbed a home run.

An amazing catch on this play would be an underestimate. It was one of the best catches you will see at any level.

Great job Nathan!

HUSDON & NELSON SET STANDARD AS GOOD TEAMMATES

CJ 'Huddy' Hudson and Zack 'All-Day' Nelson are on the disabled list. Both suffering from injuries that have forced them to miss some time.

Since going on the DL both Huddy and All-Day Nelson have been at every practice and game, being there to support and root on there teammates.

This is really what its all about...

SASAKI LEADS GE 11'S TO CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE MOUND

Ryan Sasaki (Spring 2014)

In a weekend that was filled with great pitching from the 11U Golden Era squad, Ryan Sasaki saved the best performance for last, as he threw a complete game 3 hitter over the North Bay Redbirds in the Championship game.

After working out of a jam in the first inning where he surrendered a run, Sasaki settled in, only allowing 1 more hit while striking out 5 the rest of the way, leading the Golden Era 11's to the championship!

PASCUAL, SIMPLY AMAZING OVER WEEKEND

There's good weekend's out there, then there's what 12U player Ian Pascual did this weekend...

In a four game stretch Ian hit 5 Home-Runs, three of which traveled well over 300 feet in the air, hit a triple which if the field had a fence would of been a 6th home-run!

To top off the phenomial hitting, Ian had 3 assists from center-field and made a running catch in the outfield that many we're saying was the best catch they had ever seen at the youth level. He also had 7 steals on the bases.

Great job Ian Pascual on an outstanding weekend!

12U Golden Era Outscores Opponents 56-3 to Claim St. Patricks Day Championship

12U Golden Era St. Patrick's Tournament Champions

The 12U squad started off this weekend as they have every tournament weekend this season, by dropping the first game then turning it on. After the game one loss, the team went on to outscore there opponents 56 to 3 en-route to the Championship.

Following the game one loss the team responded with:

16-0 Win over the Patriots
12-0 Win over the Patriots
11-1 Win over the Perks Nor-Cal Titans in Semi-Finals
17-2 Win over Triple Crown Baseball in the Championship

9U TEAM COMPLETES 10-0 WIN ON GREAT PLAY AT THE PLATE

The Golden Era 9U squad complete a 10-0 win over the North Bay Redbirds on Saturday by this great throw by Adam Birt to the plate.

The game was highlighted by great pitching from Jason Reed, who came out throwing smoke as well as Alijah Ramos.

OFF-SEASON PITCHING CLASS KICKS OFF WITH A SPECIAL GUEST INSTRUCTOR

Former New York Yankees pitcher, Horace Lawrence chats with the guys about pitching

Our 2013 Off-Season Pitching Class got started off in awesome fashion Tuesday night under the lights, with a special guest instructor, former New York Yankees organizational pitcher, Horace Lawrence. Coach Lawrence will be working with the pitchers and sharing his experiences often throughout the course of our Pitching Class 

Last season's 2012 Off-Season Pitching Class consisted of 10 players. Of those 10 players, 5 went on to throw no-hitters the following season and one threw a 1 hitter.

So were really looking forward to working with our Off-Season Pitching Class group of 2013 and wish for the same success our previous classes have achieved.

The goal of our Pitching Class is to start at the fundamental roots of pitching, beginning with the core mechanics of pitching out of the wind-up and going from there. Throughout the course of our Pitching Class players can expect to learn:

• CORE MECHANICS OF PITCHING OUT OF THE WIND-UP

• CORE MECHANICS OF PITCHING OUT OF THE STRETCH

• CORRECT GRIPS & CORRECT WAYS TO THROW A WIDE VARIETY OF PITCHES

• LEARN HOW TO HOLD A RUNNER ON AND ADVANCE PICK-OFF MOVES

• AS WELL AS GAIN ADDITIONAL VELOCITY ON THEIR FASTBALL THROUGH LEARNING HOW TO USE THERE LOWER-HALF WHEN PITCHING

• TO NAME A FEW...

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Rocky Sizemore (11) has been selected our Fall League's Week 2 "Hitter of the Week" for an absolute bomb he hit in Saturday's game action.

In the second game of a double-header Rocky got ahold of a pitch and launched it an estimated 260 to 270 feet in the air before coming down.

Rocky circled the bases with his first home-run of the 2013 Fall League Season.

On a sinking line-drive Dylan had to travel a good ways in and to his right, when he completely laid out an made an awesome diving catch!

Each season since 2005 every graduating player within our Club Team Program has moved on to play college baseball at one level or another, and that continues with our class of 2013.

We at Golden Era would like to congratulate our 2013 graduating seniors, most of whom have decided to go the Junior College route before moving onto a four year school.

It has been truly a pleasure watching these young men compete over the summer or for some of them number of summers and we wish each of you successful college careers.
