PUNLA DEALS ON THE MOUND AS G.E. SUFFERS AN EXTRA INNING TOUGH LOSS

Best of the Best Tournament
Punla on the mound in San Diego

Game 4
G.E. 2, San Diego Game Face 3

Johnny Punla was simply superb in his start in the West Coast Best of the Best tournament in San Diego, doing everything in his power for the Bay Area Select squad, throwing seven innings of 3 hit ball while striking out 5 and only allowing 1 earned run through 7 innings.

In the final game of pool play in San Diego, G.E.'s Bay Area Select was matched up against the San Diego Game Face squad. Both teams were 2-1 in the tournament and the winner would secure a berth to advance to the championship round.

Golden Era jumped ahead in the second inning on a single by Jack Montgomery (Fairfield), scoring Mason Rogan (Clayton) to put our Bay Area Select squad up 1-0.

San Diego answered back in the bottom half of the second with a run of their own, aided by a little help from the umpire who missed a blatant call at 2nd base that would of ended the inning without a run being scored.

Golden Era jumped back ahead again in the third inning on a 2 out RBI single by Akintunde Ahmad (Oakland), scoring Mickey Nunes (Vallejo). That is where the score would sit until the bottom of the seventh inning when San Diego was able to push a run across on a broken bat single.

The game moved on to extra innings where S.D. Game Face scored in the bottom of the eighth to take the win 3-2.
